The77 issue 7 is coming!

Readers who backed the Kickstarter campaign for The77 issue 7 are now receiving their copies in the post. It's another 68 pages of all new material including two pages of Sgt.Shouty by me. There's a preview of panel one above...

...and here's how it looked when I started pencilling it weeks ago...

If you missed out on the Kickstarter, don't worry. You can order the comic from The77 website at this link:

The77 is one of the most successful indie comics of recent times so I hope you'll continue to support it! I'll be posting more about it soon but at the moment I'm on a deadline!

Seems a bit wordy for kids. Will they understand "volatile" and the "nasal whine" gag?

Sgt.Shouty isn't aimed at young children. Like the rest of The77 it's more for a 13 plus audience so they should understand it.

I agree though that scripts for younger children shouldn't be too verbose. Clarity and sticking to the point is essential.

I was always a big reader so if I was say, 7, words like volatile wouldn't be a problem.. but yeah, 77 does seam for an older group..

that said, onething that annoys me at times.. There has always been a debate about the fact the the film version of Watership Down is rated 'U' (Suitable for everyone) when it should be atleast a PG.. but it's pretty tame compared to the novel.. and yet the novel won an award as a kids book.. not really a kids book.. not just the fact of (and this is kept in the book), having Kehaar, a black headed gull, first tell the rabbits to "Piss off".. Film is good.. book better.. can't see why an adventure novel from early 70s won an award as childens book..

sorry, bit of a tangent there..
