Original comic art from the 1980s!

In this week's eBay auction I'm offering two items of my original artwork from the early days of my career. The first one is a really early strip; the second episode of Snailman, a character I created for Marvel UK's Spider-Man comic in 1985. Snailman was the first ongoing character I created for a mainstream comic. I'm holding onto the first episode for sentimental reasons so this is the earliest one you'll be able to buy. Bidding ends on Monday 7th April.

The other page is a unique Pete and his Pimple story I did for Oink! No.52 back in 1988. Know Your Spot is a special feature I did that only appeared in that issue. "A helpful guide to identifying your acne affliction"! Impress your house guests by having this mounted on your wall! Bidding ends on Sunday 6th April.

And for any Thunderbirds fans, I'm also selling this Thunderbirds Sticker Book from the 1960s... Bidding ends on Sunday 6th April.

Zitbusters! Original OINK! artwork up for bids!

This week I've delved into my archives once more and found the original artwork that I drew for Oink! No.64 back in 1988. A two page Pete and his Pimple story where he meets the alien Zitbusters again!

I've put them on my eBay page and the auction runs until Sunday 9th March, so if you're interested in owning some actual artwork from Oink! comic you have a week to place your bids. Good luck!

The pages come with the clear plastic overlays attached that gave instructions to the printers on where to place spot colour. (That's how we rolled back in the pre-desktop publishing days.) These overlays can be removed if you wish.

Thanks again!

A big thank you again to all of you who placed bids on my art auctions, and congratulations to the winners. I'll be posting the art out over the next few days!

If you didn't win, don't be downhearted. I'll be listing more soon!

I'm happy to sell my old pages to collectors. I was just thinking that the ones from December 1990 onwards were all drawn in my current house, posted off to London back then, were returned to me after publication, and have been in my archives for the past few decades. Now I'm packaging those same pages up again to post at the same post office I used back then.

I don't have any family to leave my artwork to so the best thing is for collectors to have them who'll appreciate the pages. I'm holding some back though for close friends to have after I'm gone.

I wonder what will happen to all the artwork in the decades to come? Will the families of the collectors inherit the pages? Will they be sold off again in auctions? Descarded and destroyed? Who knows? For now, at least, I'm grateful that people appreciate my work.

An unusual Pete's Pimple page (1987).

Pete and his Pimple the kid with the biggest zit in the world, was a regular strip I did for Oink! (and later Buster) from 1986 to early 1990 but one of the more unusual episodes appeared in the Oink! Computer Special given free in Crash ZX Spectrum magazine in 1987. The mag was promoting the new Oink! computer game and some of us were asked to create strips based on what our characters did in the game.

Apparently the game had Pete's Pimple bobbing around independently in a kind of tennis game so therefore in the strip I found a way to separate Pete's huge zit from his face! I didn't have a ZX Spectrum and have never played the game but the strip was good fun to do, and it was nice to expand the character's readership.

Anyway, the time has come to part with my original artwork of that page and you will find my eBay listing for it at this link...

Good luck with your bids! The auction ends on Sunday 25th February.

Auction reminder: Bidding on this page ends soon!

A reminder that the auction for this unique original art of mine for Pete and his Pimple ends tomorrow! (Sunday 13th August). Why is it unique? Well, the script was written by none other than Charlie Brooker, long before he found TV fame with Black Mirror!

It appeared in Oink! No.47 in January 1988. This is my original art, black ink on Bristol Board.

All bids appreciated!

Classic Pete and His Pimple written by Charlie Brooker up for sale

As you know, I usually write my own comic strips but there have been exceptions. One example was back in 1988 when an episode of Pete and his Pimple was scripted by none other than Charlie Brooker!

At the time, Charlie was the youngest contributor to Oink! at just 16 years of age so this was a long time before he'd find fame on televsion with Screenwipe and Black Mirror! Back then, Charlie was a frequent contributor to Oink! both as a cartoonist and a writer. (His work was always funny!)

On this one occasion he'd submitted a script for Pete and his Pimple. Although I usually wrote it myself, Charlie's script was brilliant so I was happy to illustrate his story.

Now that it's come to a time in my life where I need to sell my original artwork I found that page the other day so I've put it on eBay. The auction runs for a week, ending next Sunday, 13th August.

I hope this collector's item will be of interest. You'll find the listing ar this link:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204420576732?hash=item2f986a75dc:g:s84AAOSwZRNkz8gh

The page is quite large (drawn bigger than printed size of course) but will be protected by strong card both sides and well packaged when posted to the winning bidder. Good luck!
