KID COPS return to The Dandy Annual

As mentioned briefly a while ago, Kid Cops are to make their return in the pages of The Dandy Annual 2024 which will be published mid-August of this year. The junior self-appointed law enforcers first appeared in the weekly Dandy back in 2010 for a couple of runs until the comic ended in 2012. Since then they've turned up in a couple of Dandy Annuals (2017 and 2018) but it's been several years since those last appearances.

It felt a bit strange to be writing/drawing the characters again after such a long gap but I enjoyed doing the four pages I was asked to contribute.

The Dandy Annual 2024 will, as noted above, be out in mid-August. Amazon have just released a tiny image of the book, which has a superb cover by Steve Bright and a modified Dandy logo by Mark McIlmail.

Yes, Steve Bright's done a nice job on that.

Since when did amazon leak covers? Is that allowed?

Since every year. It's not a leak. Publishers supply them with images for ordering purposes.

Good to see a mix of eras represented, assuming the interior roster matches the cover, we have the ever-present characters like Desperate Dan and Korky, later classic characters such as Corporal Clott and the Jocks and Geordies, characters readers parents might remember from the 90s and 2000s like Dreadlock Holmes, and Kid Cops and Andy Fanton's George vs Dragon from the final two years in the 2010s.

I see Amazon has posted the Beano Annual 2024's cover as well. Big Eggo, Lord Snooty, Pansy Potter, and Biffo the Bear are all on there alongside the modern cast, as they're celebrating their 85th birthday this summer when the annuals go on sale. I wonder if those classic characters are also featured inside?

I've no idea what's in the Beano Annual I'm afraid, James. I wasn't asked to contribute to that one. I would guess that perhaps the old characters appear as part of a Beano All Stars story but that's just me speculating.

The cover of the Beano/Dandy giftbook is also on Amazon, drawn by Mike Donaldson.
