Toxic No.299 - out today

Toxic No.299 is in the shops now, and features another two-page Team Toxic story I did. Winter Warmer sees Doc Shock invent the Toasty Coat to keep Kid Zombie warm, but it all goes pear shaped!

Dash up to your newsagent to buy the latest issue now!

had to pop into the local sainsbury earlier today and decided to play 'How many comics/magazines can you find on this shelf which Lew Stringer has work in'.. not to bad a collection of them ^_^, but Toxic was a pain to find.. top shelve (which was slightly a bit of a reach if i went for it and i'm 6 foot ¬_¬, and only RIGHT at the back.. the kids comics were top and back while the womens stuff like Sewing and stuff were more front bottom. Most of the times i check local shops, it's a bit better then that but boy that was a bad setup..

Oh, on an unrelated issue.. while i doubt you did, how much input or even payment did you get for the old Oink C64 game? seeing as it was about Uncle Pigg trying to get the latest issue published, and yo help you played three mini-games.. Pete and his Pimple was the theme of one of them, and Tom Thug was anotehr (the third was Rubbishman). I mean, that's pretty nice that 2/3rds of the game was based on your work ^_^

I'm only in Toxic, Epic, and Doctor Who Magazine at the moment but thanks for looking!

Regarding the Oink C64 game, we received NOTHING in payment and were not consulted at all. They just told us it was happening. The only bonus was that there was a special Oink! comic given away in Crash Magazine and I was commissioned to do a Tom Thug page and Pete's Pimple page for that, based on the game. (Eg: Tom driving a 'Thugmobile' and firing boots at zombies!)

I didn't even receive the game, but as I didn't have a system to play it on that wasn't a big deal. I've seen screenshots of it. Not very impressed but it was early days for computer graphics.

Personally, i find some older games graphics were better in that they often pushed the boundary of what was possible with various tricks, but too many of todays games sit in a 'safe zone'.. sure, they can render more pixels on the screen at one time, but its still down to style which is often lacking...

anyway.. the game seams very.. average..apart from the rubbishman one, there was even an extreme lack of real connection to the product they were based on. Pete's pimple's only connection was... the ball is in fact a pimple.. shooting fish.. as for the Tom thug.. erm.. yeah.. 'Thugmobile'.. Zombies...

though the comic did make alot more sense of things ^_^.
