The77 No.5 Retail Edition is out now

As you know, each issue of The77 is launched as a Kickstarter, and it's currently up to issue 11. However, earlier editions have been revised and republished to sale in comic shops. The latest "retail edition" of The77 is issue 5 and it's out now.

The contents of this slick 32 page issue include part 5 of my Sgt.Shouty saga on the back page. In this episode, the Moon Police track down the villainous Doctor Plank, but Shouty has other problems to face across the void of space!

Also in this issue is another chapter of Lifeboat by the late Ian Gibson, featuring some of the best art of his career. Then there's the opening chapter of Red By Day, Black By Night by Jo Heeley and Morby, The Cell by Bambos Gorgiou and Andrw Sawyer and more! All within a fantastic cover by Ben Macleoud.

You can find The77 No.5 at your local comic shop or order it directly from the publisher at this link:

Ally Sloper looking well for 158

It was on this day in 1867 when Ally Sloper first appeared; Britain's first ongoing comics character. Created by Charles Ross for Judy magazine and later drawn by his French wife Emille de Tessier. The character become so popular he featured in three early films (long lost), had his own comic, Ally Sloper's Half Holiday (that ran from 1884 to 1916), mostly drawn by William Fletcher Thomas, and there were numerous items of Aly Sloper merchandise produced from brass door stops to clay pipes.

Attempts to revive the character haven't lasted (you may remember Denis Gifford's four issues in 1976/77) but to celebrate his 158th annversary, I've done a brand new illustration of him, shown above.

Happy Birthday, Ally Sloper!

Zygons go Daft!

My latest Daft Dimension comic strip features the Zygons and their latest plan of conquest!

When I heard that Doctor Who Magazine No.620 would include a feature on season 13 (which featured the Zygons) I felt inspired. You can see the full comic strip in that issue, in shops on Thursday 14th August!

The Viz page I had up for sale sold quackly as a Buy It Now item but the auction is still in full swing for the Daleks strip.

This is my orginal artwork (not a print, not a copy) of the Daft Dimension strip I drew for Doctor Who Magazine No.616. Black ink on Bristol Board.

Original comic art up for auction! VIZ and Daleks!

It's been a while since I listed any art for sale but I've put two items up on eBay this week that I hope will attract interest.

I freelanced for Viz for over 20 years and have sold most of my art now but I found this Suicidal Syd page that might be the last one I have left. I don't know which issue of Viz it appeared in but it would have been around the year 2008. Mature readers only!

As you may know, Suicidal Syd no longer appears in Viz. Changes in society and all that, so this is your chance to grab a rarity! The starting price is £90 but there's a Buy It Now option at £300. Some of my Viz pages have sold for that figure or higher.

Here's the link:

Next up is one of my Daft Dimension strips from Doctor Who Magazine. This is a recent one that featured the Daleks in Blackpool! It was published in issue 616 earlier this year.  Here's the link:

In case you're new to these auctions, this is my original artwork, not prints, not facsimiles. Original hand drawn art that I did for publication. The auctions run until Sunday 10th August so good luck with your bids!

Sgt.SHOUTY is back in the latest issue of The77

The award winning independent comic The77 has reached its 11th issue and once again Sgt.Shouty resides within its pages.

I just did a single pager this time, and after the long serial of previous issues I decided to do a complete, self contained episode. I think this will be my plan going forward as I don't like keeping readers hanging for months to see the next chapter.

This time, Sgt.Shouty and Copper Scarlet travel to Planet Wonky to help repel an invasion, but all may not be as it seems.

Cover by Mike Walters.

The77 No.11 is a 48 page full colour package on quality paper and includes strips by Steve MacManus, Jo Heeley, Steve Bull, Andrw Sawyers, Mike Walters and more.

You can buy the latest issue (and a bundle of back issues and more) at this link:

Ko-Fi is Cool

A few of you have expressed hesitation at ordering from my Ko-Fi shop because it's not a company you're used to dealing with. There's really nothing to worry about because you're not dealing with Ko-Fi the company, you're dealing with me.

Basically it's exactly the same as when you use eBay. You place your order and pay, and I receive notification straight away. It's not Ko-Fi who post out the comics, it's just me. Only difference is it's more beneficial to the seller than eBay because the seller receives the momey into their account right away.

I then package up the comics and post them to you.

I hope that helps. Over the past few weeks orders drastically slowed down suddenly for some reason so if you have any concerns holding you back please let me know either in the comments below or privately. Hopefully it's just because it's summer and people are on a break?

Anyway, my online shop is at the link below and I turn orders around within a few days. I always post the comics first class, bagged, and in a sturdy envelope. (As you may know, second class post is practically dead now, only deliving on alternate days and not on Saturdays, so it's essential now for publishers to post items first class - or Tracked 24 - for a more efficient delivery.)
