Sorting through the past

Today I've made a start on Combat Colin No.4 by sorting out all the old original artwork from 1990 that I'll be reprinting in the comic. Thankfully I still have most of my original pages so the reproduction should be quite nice.

The pages need to be scanned and cleaned up a bit of course, and I'll need to draw a new cover, write a feature for the back of the comic, etc. The intention is to bring it out in time for the London Film and Comic Con on July 26th-28th, but my mainstream comics work has to take priority of course so we'll see.

Keep following this blog for progress reports!

Thanks Peter. I could never understand why more artists didn't want their art returned after use. I'm particularly thinking of the Buster artists. The editor told me that only me and (I think) Tom Paterson wanted our art back. Seems most thought it'd just clutter up the house. Well, it does, but it comes in useful years later either to re-use (in the case of art we own the rights to) or to sell on eBay to readers who appreciate it.

Also, the pages are an artists legacy. If I had kids I'd hand them down to them as an investment. Unfortunately I don't have children, so I'm selling the pages. (But not the Combat Colin pages yet.)

Frank McD really regrets not asking for his artwork back now...he would love one of his Cheeky pages...
sadly it wasn't looked after very well like DC Thomson did..

Sadly a lot of the art was destroyed, and the rest was sold off to collectors. I think some pages survived to be acquired by Rebellion but I'm not sure.
