This week's issue of The Beano sees Rasher meet Ball Boy, a character who's been in the comic for a number of years now. I'm enjoying doing the Rasher strips as it gives me the opportunity to occasionally draw other Beano stars. If the strip runs long enough perhaps I'll get around to giving Big Eggo a cameo in it one day.
This is a special issue of The Beano, as you may have seen in the press and on the news today. Yes, it's the one that features Prince Charles and The Duchess of Cornwall meeting Beano characters. In fact, they met them in real life too, - and what did Dennis do? More details on the blog of Nigel Parkinson, who draws Dennis the Menace these days:

something I've been wondering.. I know some characters undergo MAYOR redesigns (some characters people moan about, some they don't.. ¬_¬ weird people really but anyway).. but is the current Ballboy the same as the Malcolm Judge one or is he just another character with the same name?
I wasn't following The Beano much back when Ball Boy debuted but, yes, I think it's the same character albeit redesigned. Just as all the various versions of Korky are the same character.
Won't you be due to draw a Rasher strip for the 75th anniversary issue shortly? After all, that birthday is next month. That'd be a good time for an Eggo appearance.
I was only kidding about Big Eggo. Besides, I've no idea what the contents if the anniversary issue will be. Something special I'd guess.
ah, okay ^_^ personally, at times I think it would be better to 'replace' the character then redesign.. If there is a choice between mayor character redesign and attitude, or just saying 'It's a different person', why not be a different person?
again, not just or really referring to this case but a wider range.. Besides.. anyone remember when Eric (of Bananaman) was an alien?
That's actually an interesting point given that we have since learnt that that Dennis (and we can only assume Minnie and Roger) are all the offspring of themselves back in the 80s. However, due to there not being a change in Ball Boy's mum's appearance, I think it's safe to assume it's the same Ball Boy from 1975.
Personally I'd like to see a 75 story countdown like we saw in the final print issue of The Dandy. Except with far less reprints!
I remember something like that.. Could you cite issue or basic period? (or anything)
