Rasher and Gnasher

What's up with Rasher this week? Nope, it's not flies up the snout again. Or anywhere else. Find out in the latest Beano, on sale now with your free Prize or Prank ticket.

As you can see, this week's story guest-stars Gnasher, Dennis the Menace's dog. I've drawn Dennis and Gnasher quite a few times recently for various You've Been Pranked pages. No doubt they'll start appearing in The Beano in a week or two.

Over the next few days I have three more Rasher strips to draw for The Beano, plus a two page Dennis and Gnasher pranks feature to draw for BeanoMax. I'll post previews of some of them on my blog at a later date.

putting cornflakes in a clothes drawer wasn't a very good prank in my mind...also wastes food...

Hopefully something more funnier so everyone can enjoy the joke...next week..

No waste. Just scoop 'em back out of the drawer and put them back in the box. :)

(I didn't draw that one by the way. It's Nigel Parkinson who usually draws the pranks pages.)

Maybe they should pour milk into the drawer as well...;0)

Still good to see the seaming lack of work period isn't anywhere near as bad as I could be.

Haven't read the Beano in years.. Is Gnipper or his sisters still around? not that they appeared that often anyway..

It wasn't a seeming lack of work period. It *was* a fallow time. I'm pleased to say things have picked up a bit recently, thanks almost exclusively to The Beano.

Yes, Gnipper has his own mini-strip. Why not give The Beano a try again? You might enjoy it.

^_^ that's good then. I might some time but I must admit to being happier just reading old annuals, reprints and library issues (back when they still did the Beano and Dandy Library. Again, I'll admit it's nothing new, but the last issue of the Beano I read seamed quite high in modern parodies that relayed on knowing the parody source.. and I just didn't get it.. same with TV really.. I prefer parodies that are more general or of something that it doesn't well matter if you understand the parody or not, its still good. but then, things are always hit and miss at times and it's aiming for the kids of today, which don't include me. Nothing wrong with that, It needs to keep up to date without forgetting the roots to keep going.

I'll be honest.
As much as I like the comic that's been evolving for the past 60 years, I actually liked the relaunch (including the cartoon, Dennis and Gnasher). The show was a surprise to me when I watched it by accident. I kept watching it and it was awesome. The animation, characters (and their designs), writing, direction and comedy were so enjoyable and charming that I've been watching it ever since.
For something like this that's been accused of political correctness to come out as genuinely entertaining and not the former is just fantastic (I still like the 90s series though). The show's got me interested in buying the Beano off Ebay (in live in Australia so that's why).

By the way, what do you think of the 2009 incarnation?
Also, there's going to be a series 2 of Dennis and Gnasher (which I'm really looking forward to).

I've only watched a couple of episodes but I thought they did a decent job of it. Yes, a new series of Dennis and Gnasher starts soon I believe.

I meant to say 'I live in Australia so that's why'.
Forgive my grammar.

That's awesome but there's been something that's been bugging me and that would be this: http://dailybloog.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/dennis-menace-tv-series-201314.html

Then again, the animation thing should like a big fat lie considering this from the studio that animates Dennis and Gnasher:

I believe the studio but the former, I don't know what to think of it. What do you think?

I don't know what they're doing with the new cartoon series, sorry. I'm just a freelancer who's commissioned to draw stuff for The Beano comic. I suppose we'll hear more closer to the broadcast date about whether the animated characters are being tweaked or not.

That's fine. You are a damn good one from the looks of your artwork of Dennis I've seen (I know which ones).

Also, I'm more willing to believe the studio (Red Kite) that animates and scripts Dennis and Gnasher than other source, because if that source were right (highly unlikely), it would look jarring, make no sense, stick out like a sore thumb and be a massive plot-hole as to why they would switch to the comic's recent art style for sake of pandering to fans (don't get me wrong, I think Nigel Parkinson is awesome at making artwork for the Dennis the Menace strip) but what I'm saying is it would never work well into the cartoon considering the art style for that series is fine.

Let's hope so, so rumors can be debunked and we can have a great series.
