Butt-Face is back... but not for long

There's a new issue of Toxic in the shops this coming Wednesday. Issue No.316, and I've made sure that Team Toxic is an appropriately wintery story with snow aplenty. The villainous Butt-Face is back, this time with an ice monster that freezes people's bums! Can Team Toxic stop his rear-end rampage? Find out by buying the mag!

Sadly, after 16 years, Team Toxic won't be around much longer. The strip ends in the following issue, but I'm hoping it'll return at some point this year, in some form! I'll keep you notified.

Toxic is published every 3 or 4 weeks and available from newsagents and supermarkets across the UK.

The end of Buttface is sad news. Declining sales in the print industry means publishers look for cheaper content and sadly the labour intensive and time consuming nature of strip production is comparatively expensive compared to articles and sponsored "tie in" features. I fear that professional standard comics will inevitably vanish from the mainstream market. Let's hope I'm wrong for culture's sake.

Butt-Face could survive somewhere, as I created him so he'll turn up again one day. I've used similar looking characters before, just with a different name, so the concept will survive. :)

I fear you're right though. Kids still love comic strips but they're the first thing to go when the suits decide that money needs to be saved. It seems very short-sighted, and I could rant about it longer but I won't. Maybe one day I'll write my memoirs if I'm around long enough...
