Kids still love comic strips but they're the first thing to go when the suits decide that money needs to be saved. It seems very short-sighted, and I could rant about it longer but I won't. Declining sales in the print industry means publishers look for cheaper content and sadly the labour intensive and time consuming nature of strip production is comparatively expensive compared to articles and sponsored "tie in" features. I fear that professional standard comics will inevitably vanish from the mainstream market.
