An Annual Treat

This is my last promo for the annuals I'm in this year. I've contributed to two titles. One is a brand new book and one is a title that's been around for over 80 years, and I find that old and new aspect really pleasing.

The new title is The77 Annual, a 136 page book spinning off from the ongoing independent comic The77. Contents are all new and feature a variety of strips from established creators such as Glenn Fabry, Steve Pugh, John Charles, and myself, and newer creators such as Andrw Sawyers and Ian Stopforth.

My contribution is The Origin of Doctor Plank, written, drawn, coloured and lettered by me, explanding the storyline of Sgt.Shouty with the backstory of his nemesis.

There's also a colouring spread using a black and white version of my artwork for the variant cover for issue 4.

You can find The77 Annual in comic shops (not newsagents) or you can order it from online sellers here:

https://getmycomics.com/The77

The long established book is of course The Dandy Annual, still going strong even 9 years after the weekly comic folded. 112 pages of all new material in full colour from creators such as Nigel Parkinson, Laura Howell and Steve Bright. My contributions are four Keyhole Kate pages I've written, drawn, coloured and lettered, plus a puzzle page I drew.

You can buy The Dandy Annual from WH Smith, some supermarkets, and bookshops, or you can order it directly from the publisher here:

Christmas is coming!

I've produced strips for two annuals this year so I thought I'd give them another plug. First up is a brand new one, The77 Annual, based on the popular independent comic and featuring 136 pages of new material. Amongst the contents will be a two pager from me, The Origin of Doctor Plank, expanding on the backstory of Sgt.Shouty, my regular strip for The 77.

The77 Annual won't be in bookshops but you can order it directly from the publishers. It's just been printed and will be shipping later this month.

The other book is The Dandy Annual 2022, which has been out for a few months now and would of course make an excellent Christmas present. 112 pages of all new material featuring Dandy favourites, including four Keyhole Kate pages from me and a puzzle page. Available from bookshops and some supermarkets and of course directly from the publishers themselves.

I must also recommend again The Most Important Comic Book on Earth, the chunky 350 page softback raising awareness of climate change and how it affects animals and the environment. Packed with loads of strips from numerous creators including a new Pedantic Stan strip from writer John Freeman and myself. Available from bookshops everywhere. Keep a Dandy Handy!

Another reminder that The Dandy Annual 2022 is out now in all good bookshops (but no annuals at all in my town yet for some reason). 112 pages of all new strips including four Keyhole Kate pages written and drawn by me. (I also did the colouring and lettering 'cos that's how I roll.)

The Dandy weekly ended nine years ago but the annual (and summer special) continue. There'll be one next year too!

If your town is as useless as mine in stocking annuals these days you can order The Dandy Annual 2022 directly from the publisher and it'll arrive well packaged for protection:

Currently out there...

Here's a quick rundown of what I currently have in print. First off there's Sgt.Shouty of the Moon Force in the independent comic The77, and you can buy the latest issue (No.6) and previous editions from their website at this link...

https://the77comic.bigcartel.com/

Then there's The Daft Dimension in Doctor Who Magazine, available from newsagents, comic shops, and supermarkets or directly from Panini UK at this link...

...and The Dandy Annual 2022, where I have several Keyhole Kate pages. You can buy the 112 page book from bookshops or directly from D.C. Thomson at this link...

Coming up in a few weeks is the Monster Fun Halloween Spooktacular, but I'll talk more about that when it's published. I'm also an infrequent contributor to Animal Planet magazine, although I'm not sure when my next strip will appear there. Will let you know as soon as I know!

It'll soon be Christmas!

The cover to The Dandy Annual 2022 has been revealed on Amazon. It's by Steve Bright and features Desperate Dan along with a bunch of classic Dandy characters. Although most readers have annuals for Christmas presents, the books are actually published in July/August, giving them plenty of shelf life and therefore higher potential sales.

Here's Steve Bright's cover...

I've written/drawn four full page Keyhole Kate strips for this annual, and have also illustrated a puzzle page featuring the character. There's a new preview panel at the top of this post but I won't show any more now until it's published.

Hopefully D.C. Thomson will reveal the cover of The Dandy Summer Special soon too!

A Peek into the Future

As it's such a snowy day I thought you'd like to see an advance sneak-peek at a snowy scene from The Dandy Annual 2022. The book won't be out until July/August of this year so it's a long way off yet!

I'll have five pages in this book. Four full page Keyhole Kate strips that I've written and drawn, plus artwork for a puzzle page. The pages were done last year because we work way in advance on the annuals.

I'll show you a few more snippets closer to the publication time.

For now, stay safe... and stay warm! Just a few months ago temperatures reached as high as 33C here. Today... below freezing! British weather eh?

The view from my house today.
