Brickman Begins has SOLD OUT

Remember when the Brickman Begins book sold out, then I found a few more in a box? Well, they're all sold now too! Published in 2005 it's been a steady seller the last few years but now they're all gone! (Except for a couple I'm keeping for myself.)

Will I ever reprint the material within? I dunno. Everything depends on my health these days, so it's not on my radar. My main focus is on getting Combat Colin No.6 out this summer if possible.

A big thank you to all of you who bought Brickman Begins over the years. Hope you enjoyed its 152 packed pages!

I still have other comics available so check out my KoFi page here:

BRICKMAN FOUND!

Remember the other week when I said my old book BRICKMAN BEGINS had sold out? Well, the book's publisher Richard Starkings found a few remaining copies and winged them over to me from the USA!

They're complete and unread although the spines are a little bit scuffed in places so I've reduced the price a little to compensate. BUT for £9 (inc.p&p, UK only) you're getting 152 pages of some of my very earliest work collated into one book, including a load of all-new guest artist pages by Charlie Adlard, Dave Gibbons, Tim Sale, and other comics gods.

These few dozen books really are the last unsold copies left on the planet, so if you're interested, you can buy one from me at my online shop. Mature readers only though, 'cos there's a few rude bits in it.

Brickman Begins is SOLD OUT

Published in 2005 by U.S. company Active Images, Brickman Begins! collected all my earliest Brickman strips from 1979 to 1996, along with a stack of all-new guest art pages by comics royalty such as Alan Davis, Tim Sale, Hunt Emerson and many more.

The 152 page book was sold worldwide in comics shops and online, and I had several hundred myself to sell by post and at conventions. As from today, Brickman Begins! is SOLD OUT. My thanks to all of you who bought a copy over the years! It's long out of print so no longer available from Active Images either.

I'll be honouring the orders I've received up to today of course with the few remaining books, but I've now deleted it from my online shop.

There's a possibility I may do a reprint of sorts at some time next year, via Amazon's Print On Demand service. There will be differences from the first printing though, as I won't imitate Active Images' design and bonus pages obviously as that was just for their edition. Any new edition I do of the book will just focus on the comic strip pages, but at present that's only a plan for the future.

All my other comics are still available though! You can order those from my online shop at this link:

Sheffield next Saturday!

Just a quick reminder that next Saturday (August 30th) I'll be a guest at the Sheffield Film and Comic Con at the Motorpoint Arena. The event runs for Saturday and Sunday but I'll be attending on Saturday only, and will be at my table doing sketches and signing comics (and selling copies of Brickman Begins!) so I hope to see a few of you there!

Here's the event website for more details, ticket prices, travel info etc:

"A fine compendium of knee-slappers, guffaws, and belly laughs!"

Well, that's how Alan Moore described one of my Brickman mini-comics when he reviewed it for The Daredevils back in the 1980s. And who am I to argue with the great man?

In 2005 Richard Starkings' Active Images company gathered together all my Brickman strips from various fanzines and comics and published them as a 152 page digest-size softback entitled Brickman Begins! It's a diverse collection because it contains my raw, very early fanzine work in 1979, right up to material in 1996, plus a new 4 page prologue I drew for the book. It kind of charts the development of my style in a way, as you can see from the few selected pages I'm showing on this post.

The book includes strips from After Image, Blimey! It's Brickman, Brickman on Toast, The Early Brickman, Swiftsure, Brickman No.1, Yampy Tales, and more. Oh yeah, there's a six page Combat Colin story in there too, which Brickman guest-starred in, from The Transformers.

There are also guest pages by a variety of top artists including Tim Sale, Charlie Adlard (zombie Brickman!), Alan Davis, Dave Gibbons, Kevin O'Neill, Dave Hine, Hunt Emerson, Richard Starkings, Mike Collins (inked by Mark Farmer), Dave Windett, Mike Higgs, Hunt Emerson, and Ian Churchill. Plus a bunch of bonus pages with unused artwork, a jokey interview with me, and an introduction by Alan Moore.

You can see where this is going, can't you? Yes, the book is still available, and if you're interested in buying a copy zip over to my website here:

(Although Brickman Begins! doesn't contain bad language the book does have a couple of drug references and one or two things that may not be suitable for children, so bear that in mind please.)
