I have a busy month but if any editors are reading this I should emphasize that I am still available for work. With 40 years professional experience I hope I can fit your criteria. Yes, there should always be room for new and diverse talent too of course, but let's not allow ageism to affect those decisions.

I haven't accused anyone. Only guilty parties would think it applies to them. For example, DC Thomson and Panini employ creators my age and older, so ageism is certainly not an issue with them!

You're the one who mentioned ageism so you obviously fear it might be a factor with some editors. And it could be. Did it ever concern you that older contributors might have been sidelined when your career was starting to take off? Just wondering. Aren't you near retirement age?
Sigh. As I said, I haven't accused any publishers but, yes, it is a fear of course. And it's a reality when you consider all the older arrists in the UK and USA who had their workload reduced as they got older.
Your comment about others being sidelined kind of proves my point, unless you only brought it up because you think it's some sort of poetic justice that I should now lose work? Yes, I reach returement age in 2025 but I still need work now!

DC Thomson can be credited for keeping older artists in work. David Sutherland was still doing The Bash Street Kids until his death 12 months ago. And he was 89 years old! Barrie Appleby who draws Roger the Dodger must be getting on in age too as he's been around since the 1970s. What's needed is a balance between older artists like them, and younger new talent. DC Thomson have got that right.
