A busy day at SALE COMIC CON

Thanks to John Webster for the invite to Sale Comic Con up in Manchester yesterday which was a very enjoyable event indeed. A short but very busy show (10.30am to 4pm) it gave the public a good day out. It was good to catch up with fellow guests and friends Rachael Smith, Laura Howell, Marc Jackson, Colin Mathieson, John Jackson, Brian M Clarke (and apologies to not seeing those who were in a different part of the show).

Good to meet actor Willie Coppen and thanks to TV star Hacker The Dog and his handler Phil Fletcher for being such entertaining fun on the table next to mine. An instant hit with all who attended.

Last but certainly not least, thanks to everyone who stopped by for a sketch and to buy comics!

Here are a few photos from the day. Click / tap on them to see them full size.

Tomorrow (8th June) I'll be at Sale Comic Con in Greater Manchester where you'll find me and other artists at Sale Library, which is near the Town Hall. I hope you'll come along and join us for the day.

GOOF is coming! NEW humour comic!

A brand new humour comic launches at the Macc-Pow comic festival on Saturday 22nd June.

Goof is its name and the 24 page summer special includes new strips by Rachael Smith, Tor Feeeman, David Leach, Charlie Adlard and many more!

I've contributed a page called The School of the Future and you can see part of it in the preview above.

Goof is conceived and edited by cartoonist Marc Jackson, who also runs the Macc Pow event, and the comic will be initially available at the show. For those who can't make it (what? You're not going to such a brilliant convention???) Goof is available to pre-order from Marc's webshop here:

https://goofcomic.co.uk/

All the best humour comics have been edited by people who are humourists themselves (Mad, Viz, and Oink! as three examples) and Goof has a great sense of the absurd running through it. A delight to be part of, and a delight to read.

Dont just take my word for it. Here's John Freeman's review, on his Down the Tubes blog...

See you at Macc Pow at Macclesfield Town Hall on 22nd June where several of the Goof contrubutors will be in attendance.

Sgt.Shouty's Showdown with Doctor Plank!

Issue 10 of the award winning The77 comic is available now! Its 48 packed pages feature strips by Steve Bull, Jo Heeley, Rupert Lewis Jones, Andrw Sawyers and more PLUS a two page Sgt.Shouty strip from me.

In this episode, Sgt.Shouty finally confronts his nemesis Doctor Plank for the ultimate showdown. Not only one of the most enjoyable strips I've done but also one of the daftest - and daft comics are the best comics in my opinion.

This issue's episode concludes the Sgt.Shouty of the Moon Force story arc that began in The77 No.1 way back in 2020! If I do any further Shouty adventures they will be complete self contained stories.

For now though, leap over to the following link to order your copy of The77 No.10...

https://the77comic.bigcartel.com/product/the77-no-10

...and if you want back issues, see this link...

https://the77comic.bigcartel.com/products

The77 No.10 comes with a choice of two covers by Rupert Lewis-Jones (standard edition) or Ade Hughes (variant edition)

Derek the Troll returns for the LoLz!

The77 Publications have unleashed their latest Kickstarter, and it's for a brand new humour comic!

LoLz is the name and it'll include all new comic strips by established pros such as Nigel Parkinson and Sonia Leong as well as talented newcomers.

I'm doing a page for it too, featuring a new adventure with an old favourite as Derek the Troll returns again!

I created Derek the Troll 40 years ago for a strip in Warlock magazine published by Games Workshop, and he moved over to their companion mag White Dwarf after Warlock folded. He's popped up in a few places since such as part of the online comic Goof! and a self-published Derek the Troll collection I did several years ago (now out of print).

Set in a fictitious time of ancient history when weird wizards, daft dragons, and permanently-angry barbarians roamed the Earth, Derek the Troll is coming back for an all-ages audience in LoLz No.1 this summer.

LoLz won't be available in newsagents so it's essential that you back the Kickstarter if you want to ensure your copy. You can see a preview of the other contents of this exciting new comic, plus details on how to back issue one, at the following link:
