The Daft Dimension at the Lakes

I'm not a guest at the Lakes International Comic Arts Festival this year but one of my comic strips is! John Freeman asked me if I'd agree to have one of my Daft Dimension strips as part of their Doctor Who comic art exhibition, so I chose my favourite. I'm happy for a print of it to be alongside such notable images by other artists from the past 60 years. The exhibition is on all weekend and you can read all about it at the link below. Thanks to John Freeman and Marc Jackson for the photos.

That's an excellent choice. I remember this one from when it first came out and I can't think of a better representation of your Dr Who work. I still chuckle at the Jelly Baby covering the eyes of the baby Jelly Baby.

The big problem I have with strips based on TV shows is the trade off between establishing a likeness and still maintaining the flow of the story. but this DD strip is a great example of getting the balance right.

Tom Baker was never my favourite Doc but you capture his manic energy wonderfully. It's unmistakeably him, though still slightly reminiscent of Phineas from the Freak Bros.

And with all due respect to the great Dave Gibbons, just imagine if they'd let you loose on the Star Beast serial!

Meep!
