On the drawing board

It's not the best of times with health and finances but I'm cracking on with work today.

Looks good, Lew. Wishing you all the best with your health and work. Not easy to juggle health issues and self-employment, but thanks for taking the time to share what you're up to. Your blog is always one of the wholesome highlights of my internet time.

Thanks Anon.

When you get to our age Lew it almost feels like your body parts are “starting to wear out”… That’s old age for you, I’m sad to say.
I had hoped to avoid hearing aids, but for me it looks almost inevitable. I’m won’t be overly happy - plus it will mean I no longer have an excuse to ignore my wife when she’s talking 😂🤣
Cheers,
Geoff

What I have is not related to old age Geoff.

Wishing you all the best Lew. Cancer is a bastard.

Thank you Gez. Not too bad at present apart from tiredness. Next check up in 2 months.

Very sorry to hear this. Been away for a while so I hadn't realised the gravity of the situation, though some of your comments earlier this year had me concerned that something was wrong.

I've had respiratory issues since 1961 so I thought my number was up with Covid, but I survived a brush with that , only to suffer a TIA in spring 2021. Just coming to terms with that when my wife had a massive stroke. I've spent the last two years transitioning from husband to carer. Carol found a rekindled love of the Beano while recuperating and especially enjoyed Pup Parade and Ellis. You've touched the lives of many people you've never met. Best wishes from both of us.

I've had a lifetime of illnesses and always found work to be the great consolation. I have good days and bad days now but I aim to hold on until 2033 just to see you post that Iron Man cartoon again to mark your 50 years in comics :)

Thanks Tony. Most people know now but I was diagnosed with CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia) earlier this year. It's a blood cancer that one can live with for ten years before it causes problems, or it could escalate sooner. At the moment my only symptom is I get far more tired than usual. There's no cure but it is treatable, but at my present stage chemo would cause more harm than good so I'm on "wait and watch" to see if it progresses. Next appointment in December.

Yeh I heard yoy were too ill to work now on Beano. Sad news.

Hi Barry, I don't know who told you that but it's absolute nonsense. I'm quite able to write and draw comics as always. I just get more tired these days but it's not debilitating yet. I'd be happy to work for the Beano, Monster Fun, Viz and any other mainstream comic if they still wanted me!
