No Blackpool for me unfortunately

I'm very sorry to say that I won't be able to make it to Blackpool this weekend for the Blackpool Comic Con at the Winter Gardens. I was looking forward to combining work with a little holiday but I've had problems with the tendon in my ankle for weeks and it's still painful to walk. (I've tried all the usual; ice pack, elevation, rest, massage, exercise, heel lifts in shoes, makes no difference.) Tendonitis or something similar I think. Really gutted to miss it.

My apologies to those of you I was hoping to catch up with this weekend. Hopefully I'll get this sorted and will be active again this summer. I hope that those of you who are attending the Blackpool con will have a great weekend. Sonia Leong, Tim Quinn and Adrian Salmon will be there so check out their tables and say hello to them.

  3. Blackpool is very far for me and always seam.. I don't know, kinda middle class.. problebly cause it was more up north (Since I live in sussex, most things are 'up north' as far as i'm concerned ^_^) but I know you enjoy going so it's a shame but these things happen.

That said.. I'm going to an event in around Gloucester which is a Big thing for me.. and if goes well.. It might be possible for me to go to a more local event sometime.. though i don't think you are going to any local enough for me (gloucester is gonna be a long trip.. Maybe if ICE returns in brighton (there website kind says there upcoming event is.. 2019..) then if you are there, I might be able to attend. Limited to 1000 so it's a big crowd but.. maybe (the event in Gloucester is gonna be around... 10-20 people)

well, hope you are well enough for Lawless ^_^

  4. Blackpool middle class? I don't know how you worked that out. It's always been the most "working class" of all seaside resorts. I'd say St.Ives and Brighton were middle class.

  5. yeah, Brighton is very middle class.. I guess blackpool always seamed that way to me cause it was soo far away so it was a pretty pricey day out, and I've always felt places with alot of arcades could be very middle class.. hell, Hastings has/had tons and some very middle class 'acting' places (and some that tried to be upper class with 'Oh, if you need to ask the price, you can't afford is).. didn't last too long that place..

and yet we are meant to be a deprived area... but Brighton was someplace close so while it was a bit of a trip, it was do-able. Plus it was often in the Carry on films ^_^

  6. Blackpool is like hell on Earth some weekends with the various stag and hen parties. :D

As for conventions, I don't have any lined up for the South this year I'm afraid. Bristol, Shrewsbury, Macclesfield, a signing in Stockport, and then Birmingham in September. I haven't been invited to so many this time but that's OK. They can't keep having the same guests every year. I wanted to do less this year anyway to ease myself gradually back into travelling after all this time.

  9. Put Combat Colin in the Beano?

  10. It wouldn't be suitable for the Beano. Combat Colin is for older readers.
