Summer's coming! The DANDY SUMMER SPECIAL is out next month!

Summer's coming! The Dandy Summer Special 2022 will be out next month and is now available to pre-order from the D.C. Thomson webshop. As in recent years, contents will be mainly reprint but there is *some* new content. I'm just not sure how much.

What I do know is that I did a new full page Keyhole Kate strip and a half page illustration for the special. As you can probably guess by Steve Bright's cover (shown below) and my Kate illo above, it has a football theme this year. To pre-order go over to the publisher's webshop at this link:

  1. Is it that time already jeez. Good to see you are still doing Keyhole Kate Lew, I rarely buy kids comics but I will look out for this one. Nice cover that is reminiscent of the classic 1957 Beano annual

  2. This looks great. I do prefer the reprint material but looking forward to your new keyhole kate strip. The cover reminds me of the 1957 Beano book

  3. Yes, it's definitely a homage to that old Beano Book cover. Steve's done a nice job of it and it makes a change from the covers set on a beach.

  5. a bit off topic but i always love it that the only thing i like about Football, is pretty much NEVER shown in any comic versions.. and that is that Footballs are NEVER round. a generic Ball might be but a football.. all kinds of shapes.. They mostly use inflated polyhedrons.. Ah, the only fun bit of the 'sport' is the geometry yet kids never learn that but are forced to 'kick a ball alone some grass or pavement' for.. some reason I never understood for all my years at school... not fun, can't use the knowledge for anything else.. but kids seam to like football themed stuff.. just not watching games or anything.. or anything of any interest in it.. Asked a kid that was claiming to be a big football fan if he knew much about Stanley Matthews... he had never heard of him.. ¬_¬;

  6. It's easier to draw them round though.
